How to Use the Lab

Follow these simple steps to master every statistical topic with full control over your own data.

1

Choose Your Topic

At the top of the lab you will see tabs for different topics:

  • Mean, Median, Mode
  • Variance & Standard Deviation
  • Coefficient of Variation
  • Frequency Mean (with Class Limits)
  • Probability
  • Pearson Correlation

Click any tab to open that topic.

2

Enter Your Own Data

Every topic allows you to type your own numbers.

  • For Mean / Median / Mode / Variance → type numbers separated by space or comma
  • For Frequency → use format 0-10:4 10-20:6 20-30:8
  • For Correlation → use pairs like 2,3 4,5 6,7
  • For Probability → enter Favourable and Total outcomes

You can also click the Sample button to load example data.

3

Lock the Data

After typing your numbers, click the Lock Data button.

This freezes your data so the lab can use it for calculations and checks.

4

Select the Correct Formula

A list of formulas will appear. The real formula is hidden until you choose correctly.

Click the right option, then press Check Formula.

Only after a correct selection will the official formula be revealed.

5

Identify the Variables (where available)

Some topics (especially Mean) ask you to identify what each symbol means (Σx, n, etc.).

Select the correct meanings and click Check Variables.

6

Build the Working Ledger

This is the heart of the lab. You construct the solution step-by-step:

  • Mean → Add numbers one by one (previous result feeds the next row)
  • Median → Arrange numbers in ascending order by selecting values
  • Mode → Count the frequency of each value
  • Variance → Calculate (x − mean) then square each deviation
  • Frequency → Find mid-points and calculate fx
  • Correlation → Build X², Y² and XY for every pair

The computer only performs the arithmetic after you choose the operations.

7

Enter the Final Answer

After completing the working ledger, type your final numerical answer (Mean, Median, r, Probability, etc.).

Click Check Working & Answer to verify everything.

8

View the Complete Solution (Optional)

If you get stuck or want to confirm, click the green Show Solution button.

It will display the full step-by-step solution using your data.

💡

Pro Tip: Always try to complete the working ledger yourself before looking at the solution. The real learning happens when you construct the steps, not when you just see the final number.
